Application Process

To be eligible for the enrollment in the CEM Emergency Medical Technician Program for the fall and spring semesters, the applicant must be 18 years of age.

In accordance with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania EMS training guidelines, the student must possess the sensory acuity and the physical ability to perform all of the diagnostic, therapeutic, and communication functions of an Emergency Medical Technician.  Please contact EMS West for a Functional Job Description of the Emergency Medical Technician and a detailed list of the sensory and physical requirements for the Emergency Medical Technician course.

To apply to the program, the candidate must complete the application and submit it by mail or fax to the Center for Emergency Medicine, or email to Antoinette Zavalydriga at  Zavalydrigaal@upmc.edu.  Once your application is submitted you will be notified within ten business days of enrollment into the class.    Any applications received less than two weeks prior to the start of class will not be considered.

After you have been formally accepted by the Center, you will be contacted as to your acceptance into the training program. If you are accepted, you will be given instructions to complete class registration.  You will be responsible for making full tuition payment at the time of registration.
