Lodging:

The Center for Emergency Medicine of Western Pennsylvania, Inc© is not able to provide housing for students and it is up to the student to work out any and all housing accommodations. Click the link below for a list of local hotels that are within a reasonable driving distance for the Center which is located on the campus of the University of Pittsburgh in the Oakland section of Pittsburgh, PA.

We are excited that you have decided to use Hilton Garden Inn Pittsburgh University Place for your upcoming room block. Below is the booking link for the room block:

I highly suggest making your hotel reservations (if needed) before sharing the booking link with guests to ensure that you get your preferred accommodations in the room block. As a friendly reminder, the initial cutoff date for room block reservations will be on 10/12/25.

Food: Refreshments will be provided during course breaks. There are many restaurants in the area for meals each day.

Transportation:

Please visit our website for directions to the Center from the airport and via ground transportation. The closest airport is Pittsburgh International.

Plan on 1 hour of waiting in traffic during morning rush hour for every 4 miles of distance away from our facility. Also, parking garages are full by about 7:20am and cost $25+/- per day. If you drive daily, you will need to come early on weekdays.

Please plan on arriving at classes early enough to find suitable parking.

Textbooks:

The optional textbook that we recommend for this course is AAOS Critical Care Paramedic. We do not sell text books but they may be ordered on Amazon.com. You will receive a binder with all student notes printed that correspond to the lectures as part of your course fee on the first day of class, therefore a text book is not required.

Once registered and within 30 days of the course start date, student resources will be available by email invitation on the Box cloud based application. Please review the following on arrival: Course Overview, CCEMTP Pre-Course Self-Assessment, and everything in the Introduction Folder. The Box resource contains the notes, objectives, policies, and handouts you will use during the course. Therefore, access from an electronic device and internet access are required and the responsibility of the student.

We are excited to have you participate in this course and look forward to seeing you in class. If there is anything that we can do to help or any questions that we can answer for you please do not hesitate to contact us. Thank you for your time and interest.
